One final word: you should pray diligently to God for where your tithe should go.
Give back to those who've helped you grow spiritually
I personally believe that for most everyone it should go to those who are responsible for your growth in the Kingdom. Those pouring into your life spiritually must be supported financially. For most people, that is your local church. They are also the best at distributing your gift to the community. You should give additional offerings directly to areas of need that you see fit.
Not only does your local church know the local needs (or should), but by giving this to someone else to distribute, you are truly giving it to God. If your entire tithe goes to a pet project that you are fanatical about, then I think the line begins to blur between tithing and discretionary spending. This is not a biblical mandate. Feel free to disagree. If you have been scarred by the idea of giving to a church for some reason, then I would say give it somewhere else rather then not giving at all. There are many ministries desperate for this help. Read the rest of this entry »

The tithe can also help us understand a couple of financial principles. We’ll cover these in more concrete ways later, but tithing utilizes both leverage and velocity.
When we tithe, the velocity of our money creates an impact greater than we can imagine
We’ve already spoken about the fact that when we tithe, we are giving something that is not ours to help someone else and in return receiving future benefit. This is the concept of leverage.
Velocity involves the movement of money through a system that actually increases the amount and affect of money simply through the movement. This is measured in national economies and corporations, but too often ignored in personal finance – as we’ll see later. Read the rest of this entry »

(TUESDAY – Reynosa, Mexico, 2006)
When I asked the lord where He would have me the next morning, Holy Spirit told me, “Construction.” It was strange because

he sent only two of us. So Mark and I spent the morning up there. We hauled cinder blocks from one pile to another. We enjoyed good conversation, about half of which, David joined us for.
It’s nostalgic for me to look back on this time, because since then, David has become a spiritual father to me. He lead me through not only this trip, but three more – with another on the way. He also married Kara and I just over a year ago. He’s an amazing man of God,and now that I think about – this was our first long conversation. We spoke of Israel, the Jews, their place in history and the future, and the Old Testament and many other things. As the morning wore on, I was struck by the fact that it seemed almost pointless to carry one brick at a time across the roof, but as we worked on, giant piles took shape. I imagined each rock as a soul, and each pile as a nation coming to Christ, one Soul at a time. Sometimes, the work we are doing seems small and insignificant, but if we follow God’s will for our lives, we can be assured that He is building something beyond our comprehension. And each little part is an important part of the whole. Of course, as we are trustworthy with the little things He gives us to do, He gives us more and more responsibility and opportunities to see Him move through us. Also, He doesn’t just want to use us individually, but together in unity. Read the rest of this entry »

Focus at Kingdom Calling is on Calling and Stewardship. We guide, teach, nudge, push and cheerlead you into being the fullest expression of who God created you to be, living the life He calls you to, and managing everything He’s given you to the fulfillment of Heaven on Earth in your life.
Praying about what to share in this blog, we believe the Lord is leading us to create the ultimate bible study on Calling and Stewardship. The only problem is that that job is far bigger than just us. Which is where you come in. We need your help.
We’ve been studying these things for some time and as we read the scriptures, Holy Spirit again and again reveals truths involving these subjects. We fully expect that He will reveal more of these over the coming year.
However… Read the rest of this entry »
